As the weather starts to get a little cold, September arrives, and people often want to start putting up fall decorations and make their homes cozy with little changes. And then, as autumn begins and the weather changes, everyone wants to decorate their homes with pumpkins, leaf garlands, and cornstalks.
But the question here is, when should Halloween decorations like skeletons, witch hats, or faux tombstones actually begin?
The truth is that there’s no right or specific time to start putting up Halloween decorations. Some people put up Halloween decorations before the leaves fall, while others wait until the very end to put them up, so they don’t last long.
The real question is, when to start decorating for Halloween? The answer to this is not when your neighbors start or when someone else starts, but it is when your heart wants it, when you feel like starting Halloween decorations and decorating your house beautifully and enjoying this time.

Set the Spooky Mood Early in September
If you can’t wait until October, you should start your Halloween decorations in September. September is also a good time to start these decorations. Start with small Halloween decorations.
If you want to start the Halloween theme early and you can’t stop the excitement, add a little enchantment to your home.
For this, you can start with soft ambient lighting, spooky themed candles, or cozy throw blankets that slightly resemble Halloween designs. These small changes will let you start enjoying Halloween right away and they will look good too.

Save the Big Spooks for October
Even if the weather has turned cold and Halloween is almost over the edge, some people still wait for October 1st to start Halloween decorations from there itself.
For some there is no fixed time but if you too, like me, wait for these seasons and events the whole year to enjoy them with full excitement, it will be difficult for you to wait till October 1st.
As soon as October 1st comes, I take out all my Halloween decorations and start decorating my house from inside to outside, from all sides. I put up witch hats, cobwebs, skeletons, everything.
Watch How Your Neighbors Decorate
You can also look at your neighbors to see who started putting up Halloween decorations. If you are the only one in your neighborhood to put up Halloween decorations first, it will seem a bit awkward. People might even make fun of you for putting them up so quickly.

Keep this in mind as well. But this does not mean that just because people will say this, you should suppress your desire and delay the decorations when you feel like decorating quickly. This is completely your choice!
Do not lose heart by thinking about people. You can start with simple decorations, which may lead to your neighbors also starting to put up Halloween decorations after seeing you.
When to Take Down Your Halloween Decorations
Some people remove Halloween decorations in the first week of November to prepare for the next festival and clean their place. It is not mandatory that you also remove them all in the first week of November but it is a bit strange to see Halloween decorations still there in the middle of November as if you have forgotten about them after decorating them.
Because now people will be preparing for another festival which is Thanksgiving.
If you like it then leave two pumpkins and some decorations as they are, it will work for Christmas or Thanksgiving too and the festive theme remains, just remove skeletons, hats, Halloween stickers etc.
